Zachary Cook is an undergraduate student at UTSA School of Music studying composition under Christopher Prosser and percussion under Paul Millette. His music is heavily influenced by Hyperpop, Punk Rock, and Latin Jazz.
He is already a prolific composer and accomplished percussionist. Most recently, his work, "A Sly Cobra's Bite," was premiered by the UTSA Wind Ensemble as a winner of the 2023 UTSA New Music Festival. His clarinet concerto, "Violent Cry for Blood" was premiered in Sofia, Bulgaria by soloist Rossen Idealov and the Sofia Philharmonic as a part of the Sofia Symphonic Summit.
As a percussionist, he was awarded first prize at the Tierras Colligate Marimba Competition in 2022 and the 2023 PASIC Colligate Marimba Competition. In 2022, he was chosen as a winner of the UTSA Concerto Competition.
